Get Involved

The housing crisis is the most challenging social-economic issue that the Sunshine Coast is facing, and one of the biggest contributors to poverty and homelessness.

Housing is a prerequisite for full participation in our civic culture and our economy. We believe that everyone plays an important part in the provision of attainable housing: it is a responsibility of the individual, public sector, private sector, and the community.

There is a way forward … BUT to be successful, we need all-hands-on-deck and we need to work together. Local government, non-profit organizations and service providers are collaborating on solutions.

We also need community members to get involved, learn about the challenges, and work with others to figure this out. We are looking for people who bring skills, knowledge and experience.

Opportunities for getting involved are outlined below.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

We are recruiting volunteers who can provide skills and knowledge in areas relating to housing, or who have experienced or been at risk of homelessness.

Currently, we are creating volunteer working groups in the following areas:

1) Alternative Housing (RV’s, Tiny Homes, Co-operatives)
2) Rental Incentives (Increasing the number of active rentals)
3) Lived Experience of Homelessness
4) Advocacy

If you are interested in participating in any of these working groups, please contact kelly@coverthecoast.org
