Sunshine Coast Regional Economic development organization

The Sunshine Coast Regional Economic Development Organization (SCREDO) is a BC incorporated not for profit providing economic development services within the parameters of The Sunshine Coast Economic Development Charter.

SCREDO performs economic development functions on behalf of all four local governments on the Sunshine Coast (The Town of Gibsons, District of Sechelt, SCRD and the shíshálh Nation).  Established in 2017, they are the point of contact for all economic development and investment inquiries in the region.

Their team works collaboratively to position the Sunshine Coast as a sustainable, thriving and diverse local economy that is aligned with community values, expands opportunities for all residents and improves overall community wellbeing.

The society is operated by a five-member board and one full-time Executive Director.

Housing Initiatives:
Leadership and Support

SCREDO has identified lack of affordable housing as a key component to worker shortage, which is having a dramatic impact on regional economic development.  In response, they are actively participating in community organizations and initiatives to identify and implement solutions.

They  are a member of the Coastal Workforce Housing Taskforce, a group of organizations and individuals working together to construct workforce specific housing to meet the community economic development and regional growth needs of the future.  They are also a member of the District of Sechelt Housing Advisory Committee.
